Holiday is Here and Gone
Another great Christmas has come and gone. I spent much of the pre-X-mas days doing the ol’ holiday two-step:
1. Hurry and make/buy something
2. Clean up the mess
1. Hurry and make/buy something
2. Clean up the mess
But when Christmas finally rolled around, everything fell into place and we had a wonderful evening watching movies, exchanging gifts, then preparing the house for the big event: presents and breakfast for 40 people. Yes, we all fit in the living room this year (whew!) Yes, we all had a delicious breakfast. Yes, we blew the circuit breaker three times. Yes, we drank several gallons of coffee, and yes, we had a great time!!
I always feel a little sad when the holiday is over. It’s like some fleeting magical thing has slipped through my fingers before I can even catch the weight of it, feel its warmth, taste the spice or sweetness of it. And I wonder what I should do, now that it has left me.
This year, I think the first thing I shall do is name this adorable mouse my husband “steampunked” for me! But I’m stumped. Is he a “Widget” a “Wingnut” a “Bolt Boy”? Or is he something more grand, like perhaps a “Sir Perceval Brassbottomfoot”? Hmm…decisions, decisions….
