Win a Gargoyle
So the knitted Stone is pretty adorable. A lot of people have asked me if I would make some Stones to sell, or maybe make them and do a give away.
Answer #1: No, I won’t make them and sell them.
For one thing, I don’t want to make money from my knitting. Knitting is a hobby for me–something that I can work feverishly on, or ignore for months at a time. Nothing important (bills, expectations, purchase orders, contracts) is relying on whether or not I knit good enough, fast enough, originally enough. That’s what makes it a stress-relief and a hobby. 🙂
I don’t know how to explain how very limited my non-working time has become, but believe me it’s limited. The knitting time I get (maybe 3 hours a week?) wouldn’t allow me to make Stone after Stone after Stone and get him mailed out within a reasonable time frame. Sorry.
Answer #2: Yes! I will knit a Stone, or maybe two or three, and do a contest and giveaway. I’m guessing that will be sometime in March or April.
I’ll finish the gift I promised a friend currently on my needles, knit (and most likely design) the silly golf club cover my husband requested, and then I will begin knitting Stone(s). I’ll keep updates on my progress on the side bar of my web page and might fiddle with the design to make Stone even more adorable. (Is that possible? We shall see!)
The great thing? I’ll actually get to test knit him! I was on such a deadline to create him, I’ve only knitted one full gargoyle. From the email I’ve gotten from fellow knitters, the pattern needs some streamlining, so hopefully I can address that too. It’s a win-win-gargoyle gifty-win! Yay!
Anyone else out there have any crafty projects they’re working on?

I’ve been reading your stories for awhile now…and to find out you also knit just tickles me pink…a knitted Stone…how cool! Pic of the last thing I knitted is here: http://fav.me/d2zxpbm a hand spun, handknitted scarf. What I like to do best are socks and knitted lace.

I’m currently working on a sewing project. I’m making a tote bag if I can interpret the pattern and directions correctly. We shall see how it goes.

Your cute little stone makes me want to learn how to knit. I am working on a cross-stitch blanket for my brother-in-law’s new baby and a chain mail-like necklace for my mom.

I learned to knit a long time ago. Found I lack the focus to get through a project 🙂 I would love to win a Stone. He’s sooo cute.

Oooh, I’ll play along when you get your contest deets figured out. OR – I would be willing to trade one of my little purses for one. 😉

I really need to get back to my cross stitch. I stopped when I had my daughter….about 8 years ago. She kept getting into the threads and I was worried she’d get hurt with the needles, so I stopped. I think I can safely start up again….now where did I leave those unfinished projects…..

Howdy!
I’ve been thinking about reading your books for quite a while. They’ve been recommended to me by three different e-friends, so there must be something that your writing has that they think I will enjoy. Now that I’ve had the chance to read some excerpts, I have to agree that your books seem to be one of those things that will quickly fill my home and days with magic and fun.
I don’t knit but I do a lot of crochet work and would love to try to convert your little knitted Stone into a crocheted version. Do you mind?
I’ll check out the pictures you have of the cute little guy and see if there’s something I can do based on the pictures. After all, if you made the character and then made the knitted amigurumi, then you, as Stone’s double creator, will best know what he looks like!
Thanks for your time during this busy period. I can’t imagine how hectic your life must be but I do appreciate your skills and willingness to put such a large piece of yourself forward with every books and story.
Thank you for making the world a more interesting place.

Hi Kristine,
Thanks for this note. I hope you enjoy the books if you do get a chance to read them. I think it would be great if you wanted to convert the Stone pattern into a crochet version, thanks for asking!
Good luck, and happy hooking!
