Three things for a Thursday
Thing one:
My blogging has been a little sparse this week, due to me trying to remember how to write a short story. I started out as a short story writer and spent over a decade dedicated to the craft, but over the last 5-ish years of novel work, I find myself a bit rusty in the shorts. 😉
A-hem.
I’m happy to say I have at least written a thing of appropriate length and theme, that has a beginning, a middle and an end. Whether or not it will meet with the editor’s approval is yet to be said. I suppose I ought to come up with a title for it too. Hm….
Thing two:
As the lovely and talented Lilith Saint Crow mentioned on her blog, her son’s elementary school recently burned to the ground. They lost *everything*. The community and fellow teachers have jumped in to try to stabalize the situation for the children and are rebuilding from scratch.
To help the teachers and children, the amazing Evil League of Evil Writers has pulled together an auction to raise money for school supplies. I’d like to humbly ask that you check out the auction and bid on one of the wonderful items up for grabs, or donate directly to the school fund itself. You will be doing a kind and great thing for a lot of little kids, and the community that surrounds them.
Thing three, which is also part of thing two:
The Deadline Dames will be offering up a huge bundle of signed books for the auction. I’m not sure when that will go live (maybe next week) but I will keep you posted. Trust me–it’s a pile of awesomeness from the terrific Dame writers.
I’ll also be offering a couple knitted items too. Not a Stone the gargoyle. I don’t have any spare knitting time right now, as I’ve promised several people knitted goods that I’ve not delivered on. Instead, I’ll be offering up two other silly and fun things I’ve recently knitted. Here’s a peek at them:
As soon as I have information on the Dame book bundle and the knitted items going up on the auction site, I’ll post it here. But don’t forget–there are some amazingly cool things up for bid right now!

Hi Victoria,
No, that is the Twin’s Knitting Cat Bookmark pattern, I modified to Cheshire colors, and filled with glass pebbles so it can be used to hold open book pages.
