Devon vs. Robot
Here’s the deal. I need to get this novel done like yesterday, and my daily wordcount has been disappointing. So today, I’m trying to recreate the word count whiteboard at Rainforest Writers Retreat that always makes me try to write more. If you’re unfamiliar with the retreat, a whiteboard is kept in a public space so every writer at the retreat can update their wordcount as the days go by.
Seeing other writers achieve makes me want to achieve too!
My only problem? There’s only me, sititng here at home, with a sink full of dishes and an awful lot of knitting to be done (i.e. distractions).
What to do, what to do? Text some writing friends and ask if they’d like to do a virtual write? Naw, too easy. Instead I have spent precious writing time (shh….yes, I know…) creating an imaginary writer, who is also a ROBOT! and a little famous, of course.
If you, too, want to try this convoluted silliness, here’s what you’ll need:
1 whiteboard
1 random number generator to be clicked every hour or half hour
1 imaginary Robbie the Robot who is also working on his novel
Here is the current count on my whiteboard. As you can see, Robbie’s already ahead! Eeep! I better get writing!
